So here’s the deal, for my very professional fourth year university Children’s Literature course my group wants to do a presentation on fanfiction. But what we need is some good fanfiction stories to show the class and, I figure, if anyone’s gonna be able to point us in the right direction it’s tumblr. So give us some suggestions, it needs to be Prisoner of Azkaban related and preferably fun/humorous to act out?
don’t wanna be your exotic
like some dark, fragile, colorful bird
imprisoned
caged
in a land foreign to the stretch of her wings
don’t wanna be your exotic
women everywhere look just like me
some taller darker nicer than me
but like me but just the same
women everywhere carry my nose on their faces
my name on their spirits
don’t seduce yourself with my otherness
my hair wasn’t put on top of my head to entice you into some mysterious black voodoo
the beat of my lashes against each other ain’t some dark desert beat
it’s just a blink
get over it
don’t build around me your fetish, fantasy, your lustful profanity to cage me in
clip my wings
don’t wanna be your exotic
your lovin of my beauty ain’t more
thanfunky fornication, plain pink perversion,in fact nasty necrophilia
because my beauty is dead to you
I am dead to you

On my most recent video I saw a whole ton of comments from people saying “I never see pre-rolls on Vlogbrothers videos because I have AD BLOCK installed.” Well, two problems here.
- No one sees pre-rolls on vlogbrothers videos because we don’t run them
- I am not sure how I…
In political science we refer to this as the collective action problem and those that act in this way are referred to as free riders.

Need to Want Less

It’s incredible to think that over this next week millions of people, across thousands of miles will mark Xs on pieces of paper, and that those pieces of paper from millions of individuals will be put into boxes across this huge country, and poured back out by hundreds of volunteers and counted. It’s incredible that when the hundreds of hands have finished counting the millions of pieces of paper put into boxes by people who have never met each other, or seen each other, or even known of each others existence, that when that’s done, all of these individuals will have collectively decided who to govern them. This thing we’ve created, this system of people who’ve probably never even been in the same hundred mile radius of each other, coming together in an organised way to make a collective decision, is pretty freaking mind blowing. It’s entirely imperfect and undoubtedly flawed, but it’s also entirely incredible. Awesome, in the most literal sense of the word.

my friend sent this to me in response to my previous reblog on racism and having to justify our racial identity.
This is the best advice I know of.
